• There are many herbal remedies to life’s everyday complications.
Valerian is used for insomnia and other disorders as an alternative to sleeping pills. It is also used as a sedative for nervous tension, excitability, stress and intestinal colic or cramps.
Passiflora herb, or Passion flower is used in sedative tea mixtures with other calming herbs. It is also touted for its antidepressant qualities.
Lemon balm is used as a mild sedative or calming agent. Quite a few studies have found it to be effective in reducing stress.
Kava-kava, or it’s other term, intoxicating pepper, has been a remedy that originates from the Western Pacific and has been used for ritualistic, as well as medicinal purposes for centuries. Effects of kava are mild sedation, a slight numbing of the gums and mouth, and vivid dreams. It has also been reported to improve cognitive performance and promote a cheerful mood, as a result of increased dopamine levels.
If and when you’re feeling a little bit down, try using some of these natural remedies to hear some of your blues. You may just find an herb a day can keep the doctor away.
